Electric gate repairs in Reigate & Redhill
Reigate sits at the foot of the North Downs, and plenty of homes on the slopes towards Reigate Hill have drives that rise or fall from the road. That changes how gates should be set up, and causes a particular set of faults.

Gates on sloping drives
A swing gate on a slope has to clear the ground as it opens, so it either needs rising hinges, a gap underneath, or a different layout altogether. When a gate drops on its hinges over time it starts to scrape, the motor strains, and the safety system may stop it part-way. Re-hanging or adjusting the gate early saves the motor.
Sliding gates on a slope are more difficult still, and some properties are better served by a cantilever gate or a different motor. An engineer can advise if you're replacing an older system.
Older town houses in Reigate
Around the older parts of Reigate there are period houses in conservation areas. Repairing an existing gate is rarely a problem, but new or noticeably different gates on these properties can need planning permission, so check with Reigate & Banstead Council before changing the look.

Reigate & Redhill: questions
My gate scrapes the drive when it opens. What's wrong?
Usually the gate has dropped on its hinges or the drive surface has moved. Stop using it if the motor is straining, and ask for an engineer; it's often a quick adjustment if caught early.
