Intercoms and patchy signal
Many homes here rely on GSM intercoms, which call your mobile when someone presses the button. In the deeper valleys and wooded spots, mobile signal can be weak, which leads to missed calls, delays or an intercom that seems to have died. An engineer can test the signal, fit a better aerial, switch network, or move to a wired or Wi-Fi system.
Hills, trees and long drives
Steep lanes, sloping drives and lots of trees are the norm. Gates on slopes need careful setting up so they don't drag or strain the motor, and falling leaves block photocells and tracks every autumn. Many rural properties also have gates a long way from the house, where long cable runs can cause odd faults.

Caterham & Oxted: questions
My GSM intercom doesn't ring my phone any more. Why?
Common causes are weak signal, an expired or blocked SIM, or a network shutting down an older service. An engineer can check the unit and the signal and recommend the simplest fix.
